Definite article

Equivalent of English "the". It is placed before nouns. A definite article informs that it is about objects or people known, more precisely defined or already mentioned.

Forms:

masculine:
before a consonant and aspirated h le
before a vowel and silent h l'
feminine:
before a consonant and aspirated h la
before a vowel and silent h l'
plural of both genders: les

Two prepositions merge with the article:

article de à
+ le du au
+ la de la à la
+ l' de l' à l'
+ les des aux

Definite article "le, la, les" is an equivalent of "the".
